Local
Attractions: Local attractions include the Belvedere castle - a marvel of baroque architecture, Hundertwasser house - one of Vienna's number one tourist attractions and the highly popular Vienna Gasometer complex which boasts various restaurants, shops, a supermarket, cinema, gym, private apartments, music hall and a municipal archive. See map. Also of interest in the 11th district is Vienna's Zentralfriedhof (Main Cemetery) where many well-known people are buried including: Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Brahms, Schubert and Falco. The Simmeringer Hauptstraße
offers small shops, restaurants and bars for varied local supply.
„Gasometer City“ is a center of events,
cinemas and shops and one of the examples of Viennese modern architecture
situated in a historic environment. Mariahilfer Straße (the border between 6th and 7th district) is Viennas longest shopping street and it offers branches of international shops. In the smaller surrounding streets (Neubaugasse, Lindengasse, Siebensterngasse), lots of local designers present their creations (shoes, clothing, accessoires) - yours to discover! In Museumsquartier you will find innovative art and music shops in the quartier21. Out of Vienna, shoppers can find interesting offers in the Factory-Outlets: Designer Outlet Parndorf and Outlet Leoville as well as the Schuhparadies Wunderl Sollenau are not even one hour by car and local bus companies organise trips on a regular basis. |
